Achieving Balance
My Passion
.jpg)
I love being a therapist. I find the human mind very intriguing. We have so many predictable similarities in how we function, and yet every client I work with is also completely unique. I enjoy getting to know my clients and learning about what got them to the current place in their life that led them to me. I take the time to really understand an individual's thought patterns, coping mechanisms and behavioral patterns. When working together I appreciate the collaborative process between the client and myself in identifying solutions. And most of all I love seeing the look on a client's face the moment they understand what's been keeping them stuck and what they can do to get unstuck. I even enjoy the goodbyes. When a client leaves my office for the last time I know they have the tools they need to sustain the work they have done. All of this passion motivates me to push myself to always be learning more.

My Path
Professional Background

Bachelor of Psychology
January 2003 - May 2008
I began my journey by attending the University of Houston, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in Sociology.

The Menninger Clinic
May 2008 - August 2012
As a Mental Health Associate at The Menninger Clinic I was able to work in my field and confirm that helping others through therapy was my ultimate goal. I also discovered my own aptitude for working with individuals struggling with personality disorders.

Master of Social Work
August 2012 - May 2014
Returning to the University of Houston to obtain my master's degree allowed me to focus my studies on what I was most interested in and I was able to graduate from my program with a 4.0 GPA.

DBT Center of Houston
May 2014 - Present
I can not say enough positive things about my experience working at the DBT Center of Houston. I was hired, supported and educated by the founder Dr. Karyn Hall and the team she carefully selected. My work at the DBT Center has given me the tools and confidence to branch out on my own.

Intensive DBT Training
May 2014- October 2014
I chose to complete my training at Behavioral Tech, the DBT training organization created by Marsha Linehan, who was the original developer of Dialectical Behavior Therapy. This was an intensive training including two 40 hour weeks of in-person interactive training separated by 6 months. Between the in person trainings, a multitude of practical assignments were required to be completed with clients to practically apply the concepts I was taught.

Edwards Clinical Therapy
July 2018 - Present
My goal has always been to form my own private practice and I am proud to say that in 2018 this became a reality! I am not sure what adventures my future holds but right now, I am loving every minute of helping my clients reach their own goals.

Intensive RO DBT Training
September 2018 - April 2019
My intensive training for Radically Open DBT was administered by the developer of the therapy himself, Dr. Thomas Lynch PhD. The format of this training, like the DBT training, was also 2 full weeks of in person interactive training separated by 6 moths of application with clients.

Supervisor Training
January 2019
I am trained as a supervisor for other professionals in the field. If you are interested in supervision, training or having me speak to your organization, you may feel free to contact me for details of the education services I can provide.
